If anyone tries the 'CreateMaps' console command to generate maps of Morrowind and/or your mod, I just wanted to pass along a restriction I just discovered. The instructions for using this command as printed in MSFD Ver.8 are fine, but there's one little glitch. It will not produce a map of the cell your character is currently standing in! So if you start the command while standing in your mod's landscape (as I did) then you won't get a map of that particular cell. All the others around it are generated OK, just not the current cell.
To get around this, first move to a cell you don't care about, e.g. one not in your mod's terrain, before starting up the CreateMaps process. You might also be able to move indoors first, but I didn't try that. As mentioned in MSFD, this command takes a long time to run. It took about 1-1/2 hours on my 3GHz machine, so it's really annoying to have to run it again just to capture the one cell it missed!

What does it do and how do the maps look?
The ST project would just love to be able to generate automatic maps of our landmass after we've done a major update... so far we've taken screenshots of the local map and meticously joined them in a graphics program. With over a hundred exterior cells, that takes some time

Set up as per the instructions in MSFD, it creates 256x256 pixel images of each cell. You can then use a paint program to combine them into one big image. Set the paint program's grid to 256 and they'll drop right in. Adjust the gamma as usual and you're done.
The nice thing, compared to screenshots in the Editor, is that they are rendered with no perspective, so the edges line up perfectly.
Re your sig: Largest fan mod? Hmmm, I suspect some others may take issue with that. And of course, size is no indication of quality. Don't worry - I'm just kidding you, last time I looked at Silgrad Tower, I was very impressed.

That's a good tip, thanks for sharing. I'll keep that in mind when I get around to making a map of Bjornholm. You probably just saved me 1-1.5 hours.

I don't know what MSFD is, but I'll do a google search and read up on it. If the command spits out complete maps of singular cells then that is f*cking incredible! That'll save me many many hours. I'm very grateful for you sharing the information!
When I say ST is the largest I'm going by the size of our plugin, which is over 25 megabytes. Not counting textures, meshes, anything at all, besides the plugin. So if one only measures sheer content, we have more than Tribunal and Bloodmoon combined.

Heheh, gotta be careful there, because, just for the record, I have a landmass file on my hard drive which is in excess of 40 MB With nothing but land height data in it

Sorry about that, I'm using acronyms and expecting everyone to know them.
MSFD is GhanBuriGhan's excellent "Morrowind Scripting for Dummies" guide, now in it's 8th edition. Lots of good info in there besides just script commands, including a list of console commands such 'CreateMaps'. There's a link to MSFD Ver.8 in the 3rd pinned thread at the top of this forum.

SirLuthor: Hehe. Well, we prefer detail to excessive space.
